Surety and CSIA Partner to Host Data Integrity Summit
First CSIA Event Held to Explore the Impact of Data Integrity on Regulatory Compliance
HERNDON, VA – January 16, 2006
Surety, LLC, the leading provider of electronic data integrity solutions, announced today that it is the lead sponsor and a key contributor to the overall program development in the CSIA Data Integrity Summit being held on January 18 at the Cafritz Conference Center in Washington, D.C. The Data Integrity Summit is the first event hosted by the CSIA intended to engage corporate executives, inside counsel and law firms in a discussion of the legal impact of data integrity as it relates to regulatory compliance. Specific issues slated for discussion at the full-day event include the fiduciary responsibilities associated with data integrity, evaluating and implementing electronic record management best practices and facilitating the electronic data discovery process during legal discourse.
“The common use of electronic records has brought to the surface many issues related to how data is created, managed and stored and the potential risks posed to businesses as a result of recently passed legislation,” said Tom Klaff, CEO of Surety, LLC. “We feel that the Data Integrity Conference is a timely event that will help executives, boards and corporate council better understand their fiduciary obligations related to maintaining the integrity of electronic records.” The CSIA Data Integrity Summit will feature a keynote address by John Podesta, former Chief of Staff for President Clinton and current CEO of the Center for American Progress, on the fiduciary responsibilities associated with electronic record management in the today’s corporate environment. Randy Kahn, author of “Information Nation,” will give a speech defining data integrity and discuss its importance inside the organization. The event will conclude with a mock trial, led by the Honorable Judge Ron Hedges, to demonstrate the legal implications of electronic record integrity. The mock “examination” of an expert witness will be hosted by Surety and the CSIA to demonstrate the applicability of data integrity in a typical business litigation scenario. “Today, electronic records produced by any company could potentially be challenged in a court of law; it’s critical that companies take the necessary steps to secure all documents,” said Paul Kurtz, CSIA Executive Director, “We hope that that this Summit will provide business leaders with additional knowledge and insight on protecting their data, indefinitely.”
