Surety and Open Text Partner to Deliver Advanced Data Integrity Services for Livelink

HERNDON, VA -- June 28, 2004 -- Surety, LLC, the leading provider of perpetual data integrity solutions, and Open Text(TM) Corporation (NASDAQ: OTEX; TSX: OTC), the world's largest provider of Enterprise Content Management (ECM) software, today announced a partnership to offer data integrity services with Open Text's leading enterprise content management (ECM) solutions. Under the terms of the agreement, Surety's patented AbsoluteProof(SM) data integrity service will be integrated into Open Text\'s Livelink solutions enabling customers in regulated industries to protect intellectual property, defend evidence in court and comply with regulatory mandates by proving that their electronic records have not been tampered with in any way.

"The adoption of electronic lab notebooks in pharmaceutical research challenges life sciences companies to protect the integrity of electronic records used to support new drug and other product patents," said Martin Sumner Smith, Open Text's Vice President of Pharmaceutical and Life Sciences Solutions. "Combining our Livelink solutions with Surety's AbsoluteProof data integrity service provides a rigorous, external and verifiable means of ensuring that electronic experiment records are able to withstand any legal or regulatory review. Surety's service can be configured for automated, high volume data notarization, which is very complementary to the support for user-initiated electronic and digital signature approaches that we have already implemented in Livelink."

Surety will become part of Open Text's Alliance Partner Program, which establishes select partnerships with industry and market leaders to provide all the necessary components of a complete ECM solution.

Surety's AbsoluteProof is the only long-lived, cryptographically verifiable, data-integrity service that generates irrefutable evidence of what electronic records were created, precisely when, and that they haven't been altered since. By integrating AbsoluteProof into Livelink and other Open Text solutions, customers can provide courts, third-party auditors and government regulators with proof of the date and time of creation as well as the integrity of any digital content, with complete independence from internal system controls.

"At a time when regulatory compliance is a top priority for life sciences companies, electronic data integrity can be a very expensive afterthought," said Tom Klaff, CEO of Surety. "The integration of AbsoluteProof with Livelink will ensure that the electronic assets of pharmaceutical research companies remain secure, thus protecting investor interests, ensuring the success of the enterprise and promoting the development of new drugs. This is critical when you consider that many of these patents protect drugs with annual sales in the billions of dollars."
