Surety’s Digital Notary® Service incorporated in Industry-leading LABTrack Electronic Lab Noteb
Reston, VA, and Mission Viejo, CA -January 17, 2000 -- Surety, Inc and AVATAR Consulting announced today the availability of Surety, Inc\'s Digital Notary® Service for users of AVATAR\'s Version 2.0 LABTrack Electronic Lab Notebook software. The latest version of LABTrack\'s Electronic Lab Notebook allows the contents to be digitally notarized and timestamped using its new LABSafe™ feature. For the first time, a commercial electronic lab notebook meets the full legal requirements of maintaining laboratory data.
Using Surety\'s patented Digital Notary Service, LABTrack users can now legally defend their research for patent and intellectual property rights, regulatory compliance, and work in other legal settings to prove that the contents of the notebook pages have not been modified.
\"Avatar Consulting has recognized the need to provide an electronic lab notebook that is legally defensible in a court of law and with the FDA,\" said Barry Libenson, executive vice president, Surety Inc. \"By using Digital Notary Service, scientists and researchers in the biotech, pharmaceutical, and chemical industries will now be able to digitally notarize and timestamp their data, thereby protecting it far into the future.\"
Easy Use and Seamless Integration
Unlike traditional laboratory information management systems, users of Version 2.0 LABTrack Electronic Lab Notebook can store and search all raw and reduced data generated, including notes, chromatograms, spectra, spreadsheets, charts, graphs, photos, documents, audio and video clips. Surety\'s Digital Notary Service and timestamping feature is activated simultaneously when LABTrack users enter their electronic signature to save their data.
Digital Notary Service notarizes the digital content by creating a small digital fingerprint of the target data and sending the fingerprint to Surety to be registered and timestamped. A unique Digital Notary Record is then sent back and stored by LABTrack for later use in validating the notarization. LABTrack users digitally notarizing their data can be assured their proprietary data is protected because a digital fingerprint is a one-way identifier. No part of the original data record or file can be reconstructed from its fingerprint. Also, by sending only the fingerprint, proprietary or sensitive data never leaves the customer premises.
\"The combination of digital notarization with the LABTrack software promises to revolutionize how many companies maintain laboratory data.\" said Richard Stember, President and founder of AVATAR Consulting. \"This feature really makes the long sought after electronic lab notebook a reality.\"
