Surety, Inc, a leading provider of data integrity and secure messaging services, announced today the Writers Guild of America, west (WGAw) has selected Surety\'s Digital Notary® Service to secure the creative works of its members-and others using the Guild\'s online registry.
The WGAw uses Surety\'s Digital Notary Service to assure the security of creative works submitted via its digital registration process. Registration provides a dated record for author\'s intellectual property including screenplays, manuscripts, lyrics and music. The Guild\'s Intellectual Property Registry registers more than 40,000 pieces of material each year and is available to members and non-members alike. \"We are honored that such a prestigious organization selected Surety to assure the security of the intellectual property of some of the world\'s most creative people,\" said Jay Wettlaufer, Surety\'s CEO. \"Our patented technologies are uniquely suited to this application, since it\'s critical to protect an author\'s rights to a screenplay or other creative work for many years. No other secure timestamping system can provide long-lived protection for digital data. It\'s just that simple.\"
\"Surety\'s systems gave us the confidence to know we could move forward with registering online and assure our clients their work would be safeguarded,\" said Caroline Chacon, WGAw Registrations Administrator. \"Given the sensitive nature and high value of the creative works we are dealing with, Digital Notary\'s system was the clear choice for us.\"
